I have about a dozen of Filipedes collections from the last Fall and haven’t managed yet to id any of them with confidence. A difficult section to learn.
It helps to have the actual specimen in hand when you read a key. I don’t know what else to suggest. Adolf

On page 71 (alt. pagination 437) Maas Geesteranus (1984 – Conspectus of the Mycenas … part 3) wrote:“The time has now come to offer a revised and more satisfactory key.” The key that follows gives 9 characters in which those two species differ.
Is there an easy way to recognize M. metata?
