Only a few times have I seen distribution of apothecia even mentioned let alone used as a key character. Will be interesting to look through lots of photos in the years to come to see if there are consistent patterns. Regardless, it’s always a good idea to separate observations if you have the patience, no matter how certain you are they’re all the same.
It’s from the same park, but not on the same tree, and I didn’t take liberty of putting it into the same observation. Besides, apothecia here are more evenly distributed, and it doesn’t have that distinctive look of the observation 88311, where ripe apothecia are bunched up in the middle, surrounded by tiny undeveloped ones.
