Observation 88417: Amanita umbrinolutea (Secr. ex Gillet) Bataille

When: 2011-09-16

Collection location: La foresta del Cansiglio, Cansiglio, Italy [Click for map]

Who: James Baker (cepecity)

No specimen available

This mushroom was found adjacent to a spruce forest on a foray that Italian mycologist, Silvano Pizzardo organized with Ennio Giusti and Albert Casiero. The foray leader identified this mushroom as Amanita battarrae, but as R E Tulloss states under Observation 88378 “Because of the colors on the cap,…
this can’t be A. battarrae which is dominantly grayish according to the description of Battarra on which the name A. battarrae is based. The species with reddish brown and sordid brownish yellow zones (independent of the order of the zones from the center outward) is A. umbrinolutea.”
