Notes: Foliose lichen with a distinctive red lobe tip. Found on moist soil under Rhododendron, in mixed hardwood forest, Cherokee National Forest.

This is what’s called P. praetextata in eastern US

Ignore the lack of lobules and the brushy rhizines. I know it doesn’t look like the stuff you see elsewhere, but this is what “they” call it, anyway.
