Observation 88748: Parmotrema hypoleucinum (Steiner) Hale

When: 2012-02-18

Collection location: Lagoa d’Óbidos, Portugal [Click for map]

Who: zaca

No specimen available

It seems to belong to the group of P. hypoleucinum and P. hypotropum. However, the KC reaction is doubtful, since I expected some orange/red tones which didn’t show up.

Maybe it is possible that P. hypoleucinum has only minor quantities of norstictic acid, in which case it might remain K+ yellow or yellow-orange. Your only other option would seem to be Platismatia, but I don’t think any of those species have cilia.
