No herbarium specimen

Notes: This mushroom was found on a foray that Italian mycologist, Silvano Pizzardo organized with Ennio Giusti and Albert Casiero. Local area mycologists,Anna Maria Marini and Monticello Otto, identified this mushroom as Lycoperdon saccatum in the field. After the foray the ID was confirmed by Silvano Pizzardo, “Coordinator pro tempore” of the Federation Veneti (Mycology) Groups.

it’s because L. saccatum is deprecated in favour of others with lower votes..

How come the consensus….

Is on Lycoperdon (45%) instead of L. saccatum (54%)?

According to Sarasini, the current name is Calvatia excipuliformis and the other two you have noted are listed as synonyms.
