Observation 8929: Tricholoma murrillianum Singer

When: 2007-10-27

Collection location: Tillamook Co., Oregon, USA [Click for map]

Who: Daniel B. Wheeler (Tuberale)

No specimen available

From an undisclosed locale in Tillamook County, Oregon. Perhaps the sand cap on top of the mushrooms will help. This photo shows parts of 5 mushrooms which totaled more than 1.5 pounds of choice edibles. My mouth waters in remembrance. Nearby I found an immense (for me) fruiting of these mushrooms, but still far from maturity, so I left them. The next week the only mushroom I saw were 2 small unearthed matsutakes discarded on top of the sand. This defines manic/depressive.
