Observation 89656: Amanita Pers. sect. Amanita

No herbarium specimen

Notes: Near fur, spruce, and maybe some pines. (Don’t know my trees well sorry) They were all growing in needles and mainly by wood chips from decomposing fallen trees.Stipe is 4 inches long and the cap of the opened one is about 3.

I don’t know mushrooms too well yet, but it looks like a Death Cap to me. Like I said though thats pretty much a shot in the dark. It sure has a beautiful golden cap though. Seems more golden then the Phalloides I’ve seen pictures of.

Recognized by sight: something in section Amanita…one of the gemmata (top, yellow) or pantherina (middle, brown cap) group, prob. a close cup of a volva is the key here.
