Observation 89656: Amanita sect. Amanita

When: 2011-09-05

Collection location: Blossom Lake, Montana, USA [Click for map]

Who: MushroomPantheon

No specimen available

Near fur, spruce, and maybe some pines. (Don’t know my trees well sorry) They were all growing in needles and mainly by wood chips from decomposing fallen trees.Stipe is 4 inches long and the cap of the opened one is about 3.

I don’t know mushrooms too well yet, but it looks like a Death Cap to me. Like I said though thats pretty much a shot in the dark. It sure has a beautiful golden cap though. Seems more golden then the Phalloides I’ve seen pictures of.
