Do you still have material of this in your herbarium?

If so, we’d like to see if we can get DNA from the specimen.

If not and if you find this again in 2013, it would be great if you could dry it and post on MO about it.

This year there is a project to obtain “citrina-like” specimens from as much of North America as possible, for DNA analysis.

If you would like to help and send some dried material, please mark each collection with its MO observation number so that we can get the background info from MO.

Yes very strong lavender color. I dried several for my herbarium, when I pulled this one off the rack to flip it the lavender color was there. I have never seen Amanita citrina f. lavendula with such bright lavender staining, from what I have seen its usually much darker so this was a surprising first.

That’s a nice strong lavender.

It looks like some digital cameras are really picking up on that color now. It was extremely hard to capture on some films in the pre-digital days. Nice.
