I get the impression from Thompson’s dot maps that none of the Cetrelia species are common… oh, holy cow, look where you were, way up north there. Strike that. Maybe it’s not all that unusual to find any of them up there.

Anyway, I’d feel uncomfortable calling this anything without spot tests. If the pseudocyphellae were obviously huge, then sure, chicitae would be a good bet, but I’m not so sure about this one. Could be any of the above.

I have no clue :-(

This is one of my first photos, with no specimen available. And I don’t have any other collections of this species to compare. It might as well be something else – feel free to rename it as you feel proper. Most of the photos of this species usually show bigger pseudocyphellae, I think.

Are you going by the size of the pseudocyphellae?

I would definitely do the spot tests on this one to be sure.
