Observation 90512: Cortinarius (Pers.) Gray

No herbarium specimen

Notes: Growing under beech and up through masses of dead Conopholis americana (Squaw root). Silvery sheen with subtle purple coloration. Damaged by insects.

Does not look like C. alboviolaceus I saw on the West Coast, but see this observation of something similar, also local:
