I am afraid so. I think it will be quite impossible to tell without those essentials. But it looks like something in the igniarius stirps. But then tremulae and lookalikes are also quite similar.

There were no leaves or fruit or flowers anywhere! It was a hardwood, but that is about it, sorry!
