Proposed Names

61% (2)
Recognized by sight: a sequestrate species, apparently with a greenish spore mass.
-27% (1)
Recognized by sight: unless there’s more than one gastroid fungus in Chlorophyllum. Also consider this quotation from the below referenced link. “..Look-alike Endoptychum depressum Singer & A.H.Smith favors sylvan habitats and has a blackish interior when old; C. agaricoides is found in the open and has a yellow brown interior when old…”

You got it! I’ll put you in touch with the collector.

Debbie, yes it was an oversight.

I had the collector go back and retrieve more specimens and photos. Will update soon.

Thank you, Herb

we will hope that the “no herbarium specimen” notation was just an oversight, and one does actually exist somewhere.

I don’t have time to do a work-up on these personally, but would like to put the original collector in touch with someone who would give the species the research it deserves.
Someone who would publish it. Any suggestions?

this looks extremely interesting – different from Endoptychum/Chlorophyllum agaricoides. I sincerely hope that you kept material of this species!

There is at least one gastroid Chlorphyllum.

You may have found it. Or perhaps a species novum.

I think it would be good to dry a voucher collection of this, Herbert.
