this was directed specifically toward a tropical Ganoderma observation, the region of the country most likely to contain a plurality of Ganoderma spp., hiding behind the erroneously applied lucidum epithet. I repost it here to stir up trouble among mushroom observers and indict our tacit acceptance of G. lucidum, G. tsugae, G. oregonense and G. resinaceum as the only varnished conks of any consequence in North American forests.

My first question is “What´s the best and most recent literature on Ganoderma speciation and worldwide distribution?”
