I found this single specimen growing in sand. I have never seen anything like it before, and I’m having great difficulty in identifying it.

This mysterious mushroom

Hi Gerhard,

No, I didn’t detect any fishy aroma – in fact, there was no distinctive aroma at all.

I’m still flummoxed by this specimen. The fact that it occurred in deep sandy soil only adds to this mystery.

I can’t provide any other info, I’m afraid.

Did it smell fishy?

It somehow reminds me of Lactarius clarkeae or rather Russula flocktonae but I did not find them in so deep sandy soil.
Any other informations providable?
