mycorrhizal with Larix decidua and Larix kaempfferi, not sure about other species.
Range of distribution is Europe and boreal Asia to the Far East.
Ever found S. clintonianus?

They were under larch? I was neat finally finding a larch forest there in Europe, no such things here in California.
