Apparently cold-induced purple staining occurs in ameripanthera. That’s not in the literature. Is it correct that the present observation is not represented by a herbarium specimen?

It looks like the warts are sitting on islands of pileus context that are made by splits that follow the shape of the wart base.

Fascinating – I have seen this once before – on Amanita pantherina at ucsc, in the cut base of the stipe after a night in the fridge.
