Notes:
I thought this was a slime mold until Curecat cut it open. Looks like it was stunted by a few days of low humidity and freezing temps shortly after it sprouted.

Maybe you’re right. Never seen a yellowish Hericium though.

I probably would have just torn it open with my fingers, or used the worn out blade from my decades old multitool. I did feel a bit nervous walking in front of you after you whipped out that knife though. Lol.
