the French researchers did, and the DNA work is in publication.

remember, the Kuo names haven’t even been published yet!

be patient.

probably best to use a more general name for morels right now, until this all gets sorted out.

I don’t see either species in Genbank. Which loci did you compare? How close was the match?

that it fits Kuo’s esculentoides, you need to vote for californica. M. californica is a DNA match for esculentoides, but is actually a valid, published name.
