Collection location: Serra de São Mamede, Portugal [Click for map]

Who: zaca

No specimen available

Until very recently I had no ideia about what this lichens could be. I had already found before and devoted to it observation 86031. Since I found another lichen (observation 92590) that suspect to be of the genus Protoparmelia, I investigate the species in this genus and conclude that this one must be Protoparmelia badia. Searching the internet I could then see some similar specimens, e.g. AFL, Irish lichens, lastdragon, Timdal, which also show the variability of this species.

The spores are hialine, simple, most of them with two oil drops, with approximate average dimensions of 12 × 4.3 µm.

Chemical reactions;
