Growing on siliceous rock.
Thallus crustose, whitish gray, cracked-areolate, areolas slightly convex, with a black prothallus, slightly pruinose. Apothecia black, numerous, isolated but sometimes close and then become fusioned, with a thick concolor rim. Spores colourless, simple, guttulate, with average dimensions of Me = 16.8 × 8.6 µm ; Qe = 2 (N=23).
