Collection displayed at the 2005 Oregon Mycological Society Fall Mushroom Show, held at the World Forestry Center, Portland, OR. Rhizopogon vinicolor is noted for its red/blue-staining (wine-colored=vinicolor) especially near the peridium (outside). This is one of the most commonly collected truffles of the Pacific Northwest, and accounts for perhaps 40 percent of collections submitted to the North American Truffling Society.
