Notes: Displayed at the 2005 Oregon Mycological Society’s Fall Mushroom Show at the World Forestry Center, Portland, OR. This was collected by Adrian Beyerle, and the number refers to Adrians collection number, which is now probably housed at the OSU Herbarium at Corvallis, Oregon. Rhizopogons are among the most difficult fungi to identify. Spores may vary by only a few microns in size, colors change with maturity, plant association is often difficult to assertain. There are certain features that help identification: gleba chamber size/shape, color/appearance of peridial rhizomorphs; spores under a scanning electron microscope.
