Observation 93523: Amanita aprica J. Lindgr. & Tulloss

When: 2012-04-28

Collection location: Fort Ord National Monument, Seaside, Monterey Co., California, USA [Click for map]

Who: Ryan (Meathead)

No specimen available

I found these in some leafy branchy mulch behind previous fort ord underneath a group of bushes. They have a pretty neutral scent, slight fungusy mushroomy smell. I am hoping they are Amanita gemmata but I am worried they might be either Amanita aprica or Amanita pantherina. I know next to nothing about mushrooms so I take anything I type with a flake of pepper.
