Notes: Single specimen. Growing on a fallen small tree, probably cottonwood, could be willow.

Smell mild, pleasant. Gills white, pinkish next day. Cap hygrophanous, faded to grayish, esp. near margin.

Spores 6-7 × 5-6 microns.

The structure of the pileipellis places this in section Hispidoderma.

The hygrophanous pileus with brownish colors and striate margin points to the species complex around Pluteus plautus. This group of species still needs a lot of work both in Europe and North America to see how many species are there and how can we separate them.
