Observation 94851: Ganoderma curtisii (Berk.) Murrill
When: 2012-05-16
No herbarium specimen

Notes: I stumbled on this mushroom while walking in a woods today. It stands 6 1/2" tall. It’s just stunning. It’s growing on the ground just off a path. The top, underside and stem are all smooth. No signs of gills, nor pores. I’d love to know what it is!

This photo shows the same mushroom as before about a month later and a new baby coming up nearby

Hi, what types of trees were around? These varnished red polypores are good medicine!
