Growing from under the bark of a dead white birch where Inonotus obliquus mycelium (sterile conk) was present.

Fantastic to see the silvery perfect state from under the bark along with the black, lumpy imperfect state. The fruiting body of the fungus is rarely seen or photographed. It’s great to see the pores in your photo.
