Observation 95523: Flammulina P. Karst.
When: 2012-04-02
Herbarium specimen reported

Notes: I thought the exposed cap was just another leaf, but I flicked it to double check thankfully. It wasn’t too easy to pry the bark off, so luckily I didn’t damage the weird “branches” at all.

The whole thing, measured from the black “root” to the tallest cap, was about 9 inches long. It appeared to be growing from the soil (or attached to wood under the soil, but that root came up easy), but it was wedged between the stump and its bark.
