When: 2012-05-23
Collection location: Ricketts Glen State Park, Pennsylvania, USA [Click for map]
Who: Dave W (Dave W)
Notes:
Growing singularly directly on bare wood (log with bark stripped). White spore print. Maybe Tricholomopsis? Non decurrent gill attachment appears to rule out Omphalina.

rule out Tricholomopsis. Smooth, striate cap, shiny smooth stem, adnate to decurrent gill attachment, lack of large cheilocystidia (because I beleive this is the same as obs 96079..).

except maybe that these fruit bodies are so small. Sometimes it comes down to a few “maybes.”

Found what I believe is the same type of mushroom, very close to where obs 95605 (this obs) was collected.
http://mushroomobserver.org/96079 observation 6-1-12.

I did not keep the material. As usual, thanks for the suggestions.

take a look at spores and cheilocystidia..
To me, this doesn’t look like Tricholomopsis, more like Fayodia, Gamundia or maybe Hydropus.

it looks like a pale yellow to me.
however, it might just be the photo.
what color would you describe it as?

observed on any part of this mushroom.

I think the striations are a result of the translucence of the cap. Smoothness of the cap/stem do seem to be traits not associated with Tricholomopsis.
