velosas can have a pleasant odor of shellfish, like several other edible amanitas, but they have a flavor all their own: sweet and nutty.
they are my hands-down favorite edible mushroom.

I would very much like to try velosa, I hear it taste a bit like seafood. I am a west-coaster by birth, maybe someday I will be able to get back there and find some of my own!!!
