Observation 95784: Hygrophorus caeruleus O.K. Miller
When: 2012-05-25
Herbarium specimen reported
0 Sequences

The identification was provided by Dimitar Bojantchev, and Debbie Viess from the photos and description. The photo quality is poor and yellowish, however the light aquamarine color brighter at time of collection. Odor pungent—extreemly unpleasant, peppery, with a hint of cucumber, dirty socks, and gorgonzola. This description is combined from 4 noses. DV suggested the term “rancid farinaceous” which I think is apt. The habitat was a mixed forest of Douglas fir, Ponderosa pine, cedar, and oak, however I neglected to note the trees in close proximity to the mushroom. One specimen was found.
