Observation 9605: Fomitopsis pinicola (Sw.) P. Karst.
When: 2001-06-30
No herbarium specimen

Notes: The exact location of this extremely rare fungus must be kept secret at this time. The site has already been put off-limits to tree cutting of any kind. Any time Bridgeoporus nobillisimus is found, an area of at least 640 acres surrounding it is immediately preserved as fungal habitat. At one time this fungus was probably widespread in Oregon and Washington; now it is positively known from only 10-12 locations total.

[admin – Sat Aug 14 02:03:21 +0000 2010]: Changed location name from ‘Multnomah Co., OR’ to ‘Multnomah Co., Oregon, USA
