Notes: Found on wood.
This one was rather odd, but not for me I guess. I was with a groups of New York type people hunting the mushrooms, and we come on this log with many of these. I just look at the log, and I just say, oh, Panus conchatus. But they debate, and discuss, vary Lentinus names suggested, and I ask, why isn’t it just Panus? And they don’t know. It turns out, no one there has seen Panus conchatus before, and this is a new species for them. So, I guess this was a rare find in New York.
