Observation 96961: Leucocoprinus birnbaumii (Corda) Singer
When: 2012-06-10
Herbarium specimen reported

Notes: Ok, these little guys are growing out from between the tops of the baseboard and the wooden base under my parents kitchen sink. They look alot like Leucocoprinus Birnbaumii - I THINK - however, from what i understand, these are usually found growing in soil, potted plants, or rotten wood OUTSIDE. This is indoors, and sometimes also sprouts from between the space where side of the dishwasher meets the side of the cabinet under sink. (hope it makes sense). Now, its obvious that the wood is bad and apparently effected by water, whether leak or from the recent rain flood that filled their kitchen with water 3inches deep, which flowed in from the yard. Yuk. We are no doubt taking the wood out and putting new in, soon. But Im still curious as to WHAT THESE ARE! as they stink to high heaven, and there is a million little “lampshade mushroom” babies waiting to grow (you can see some of them). Allergies and various medical phenom seem to have appeared in my toddlers and I (immuno comrpomised due to Lupus) and dont know if it could be related? Anyhow, thanks! I also have a few more pictures up close of different stages.
