the only thought I’ve come up with is that it might be an aged specimen of “Amanita sp-N47” that I have seen a few times recently in Connecticut and New Jersey. The species needs work. A partial description (more complete on the techtab) is found here:

Sorry I can’t do more. I’d be interested in seeing dried material from Canada, Eva, if you ever see this again. Note that the colors of the cap and volva may vary with age.
