We don’t have any voucher specimen for this MO observation

and I don’t care, how you would call it. I don’t like posting unvouchered observations on MO, but in the case of vouchered observations, I would like to have the MO names to be the same as the names on the herbarium labels. That makes it easier to track the supporting specimens to the MO observations. In this case, as in many similar cases, you have more than one “preferred synonym” for the particular species and the collected fungus really does not care which one you use.

Leucopaxillus giganteus is not in the same monophyletic clade as the type of Leucopaxillus

and in fact far removed from it.
The phylogenetic tree of the Tricholomataceae s.l. in the article by Sanchez et al. shows that very clearly.

Can somebody tell us, why we must not follow Species Fungorum?

Joe & Nathan, please help!

Hi Joe & Nathan,
I wonder, could you change the authority setting for our MO observation in such a way that only we would be allowed to change our MO observation names. We have most our MO observations supported by the herbarium specimens and we would like to use the same name on MO observation as what it is on the corresponding herbarium label. I have called for getting a special comments (so-called Annotations), when that is not possible use Comments or if that is not possible, use tha naming change and do not allow Consensus or any other user change the original name. In this state, MO is nothing else that the pre-school children game.
Nathan, you feel insulted by my comments. We understand you and we feel the same. Our experience of the collection management is totally ignored.
