Notes: Collected during the 2003 Oregon Mycological Society’s Fall Mushroom Forage at Camp Macgruder, Tillamook Co., OR. S. macrorhizon grows in sand dunes, has an extensive, tough mycelial base (similar to an underground stem), and is generally covered with sand.
