Observation 98153: Agaricomycetes Doweld
When: 2012-05-27
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Small Fanshaped fungi growing on wood. There appears to be growth circles appearing as the fungi ages. There is also an unusaul spiney growth at the base. This specimen was about 2.5 cm across. There were several other specimens on the log showing different stages of growth. The fungi was not soft or delicate to touch, but was well secured to the deadwood. The hairy edge that is quite noticable actually appears over most of the fungi surface. I have photographed these before but have not been able to show the hairs as well as in this image.

Danny.
That’s a good question. I was so pleased to get a sharp image I forgot to take an underside shot. I do know it wasnt toothed and from memory plain and flat surface and no where as interesting as the Face side. Slipped up badly here. I will go back through my records and see if I have a reverse side from ann earlier shoot.

underside?
