Observation 98418: Cystoderma amianthinum var. rugosoreticulatum (F. Lorinser) Bon
When: 2012-06-26
Herbarium specimen reported

Notes: Fruiting in grass beneath Doug fir.
Cap: with light orange dust(similar to caps of Phaeolepiota aurea) shaggy white remnants on margin.
Gills: white, close.
Stem: bulbous at base, lacking ubiquitous scales(old specimen).
Scent: Extremely pungent(of green corn). I left my apartment after spore printing on tin foil-upon my return 3 hours later- my entire living room reeked!

Spores: elliptical, smooth. Unfortunately I don’t have any Melzer’s to show amyloid reaction.

Temp: upper 60’s, sunny.
