These were found near the collection of MO 98373, which I called Amanita jacksonii. A couple of the specimens of that collection appear to possibly be a separate species.
These were nearby and practically all were not as red in the cap, and they were on whole somewhat larger.
While I did not save any of them, I did get a spore print and wanted to see if there were any significant differences in size or shape.
The spores were white, inamyloid and ~ 8.0-9.8 X 7.1-9.0 microns. The Q(ave.) = 1.12. They looked very similar to those of MO 98373.
While there is no real way of knowing whether either collection is really Amanita jacksonii, I’m reasonably sure both collections are all the same species.
