Recognized by sight: Jason, dont really understand what Im looking at here. Could be a number of different lichens?…. This was on a board of stairs near the sea inlet. There are all sorts of colored dots, and then in the third photo a brown leafy lichen to boot.

(sorry, couldn’t resist!)

I’d suspect two or more species of white stuff alone. The black-fruited species might be something like Micarea. The brown leafy thing, at least, is easy — it’s Umbilicaria, possibly U. torrefacta based on the “chinky” appearance of the upper surface, but maybe also U. hyperborea.

(Note, by the way, that Trapeliopsis is almost always sterile. If you saw something like the black-fruited specimen… but without the black apothecia!… on weathered wood, then Trapeliopsis would look a lot more promising…)
