No herbarium specimen

Notes: Spores: I’m sorry I don’t have a spore print for this. From the nearby grass, I suspect light yellow.

Cap: Strongly depressed, pale yellow.

Gills: Attached, crowded yellow.

Stipe: Simple, short compared to cap, yellow.

Base: Simple, attached to twin, no volval remnants.

Bruising: Brown.

Habitat: Growing on the ground on the outskirts of a mixed hardwood/conifer forest.

I had been suspecting Lactarius, but wasn’t sure as there was no milk visible. The spore print would be a good match, though.
