The xerampelina odor…

is not what I would call “foul.” But the odor is prominently like crab or shrimp. Taste of x should be non acrid and texture not grainy.

(my nose is not the best) did not have a foul smell

only xerampelina shows the brown bruising on the gills. Did this one have the shellfish odor?

During each of the past few years, I have IDed a similar early season russula as R. xerampelina.
