Notes: I have forgotten the name of this rather rare Peziza. Notice the fluted lip of the cup. Perhaps Tarzetta? Found near a slash-burn pile very near Bear Springs Ranger Station, Wasco Co., OR. That area has now been set aside for this fungus, which probably needs disturbance to fruit. I collected it in 2004, 2005 and 2006. I have not seen it there since, so may be fruiting on smaller-diameter woody debris or even conifer needle accumulations. Fruiting scattered, singly or in small clumps. Largest specimen I recall was not more than 2 inches in diameter. Far more mushrooms present the year after burning than successive years.
