They look like they have some sort of reddish pigmentation. Look at the google image results, this is not an unknown phenomenon. I wonder what causes it.
I wonder why the batch in the last photo is so dramatically different color-wise. I didn’t change my color settings, but came across this group of lichen that were just different. They all look immature, smallish and with no apothecia yet. Could that be the reason?
