Notes: HABITAT well-lit young hardwood forest at edge of grassy bald; SUBSTRATE Acer bark; ASPECT partly sunny; NOTES scurfy yellowish crust, large bulging perithecium with black summits and small black ostioles exuding black stuff in age, medulla yellow in places, K-, C-, KC-, UV+y bright, cortex POL+, exciple dark brown and continuous, white-gray hymenium, cortex K+y under LM, loads of tiny oil bubbles in hymenium bleeding out in K; SPORES 8 per ascus, citriform, grayish to brown in age, smooth, 4 cells, lumina round to lenticular, 16-20 × 10-12 µm, end “bubbles” extend outside the spore??
