Observation 99684: Boletus L.

When: 2012-06-21

Collection location: Big Thicket, Hardin Co., Texas, USA [Click for map]

Who: Ron Pastorino (Ronpast)

No specimen available

Notes:
These were found in the southern section Of the Turkey Creek Unit.
Caps were up to 4.8 cm across.
The cap flesh was light yellow and slowly turned a blue-green.
The adnate pores also were a little slow to blue.
Except for the reddish spotting the stem was basically smooth.
Spore print was olive brown and spores were ~ 12.0-14.0 X 4.4-5.2 microns, fusiform with relatively rounded ends.
These to me look like a hybrid of 2 or 3 species so I’ll leave it to the more local bolete specialists to put a name on them.
