Species List: Species around Redwood National Park (38)
When: 2007-10-27
Where: Redwood National Park, Orick, CA
Who: Douglas Smith (douglas)
Notes: This was part of a join educational mycology weekend with San Francisco State University, Berkeley State Univ., and Humbolt State Univ., lead by Dr. Desjardin, Dr. Bruns, and Dr. Henkel respectively. The collecting was in and the area around Redwood National Park, north of Eureka, CA, in Humbolt Co. We were also met by Dr. David Largent, and taken to some research areas to better get a list of the species growing at this time.
The area was mixed Douglas Fir, Fir, and Sitka Spruce, intermixed with Redwood. One of the research area also include some hardwoods, like Tan Oak.
The list here is only a partial list of the species observed, only the ones I got photos of. There were quite a few more seen over the weekend, but I didn’t get to them all. Also I tried to get photos of species I don’t find common, so some of the more common I don’t list here (like B. edulis say…).
