Donate to Mushroom Observer
Thank you for your interest in donating to Mushroom Observer. To support Mushroom Observer, please send a personal gift to Nathan Wilson either through PayPal or you can send your checks to: Nathan Wilson As discussed in the 2012 Wrapup unlike previous years, funding for the Mushroom Observer is not being handled by the Consortium for Digital Mycology Resources (CDMR). The CDMR is still awaiting a ruling from the IRS regarding it’s tax exempt status. Based on legal advice from Mushroom Observer member John Harper, a tax lawyer with Morrison & Foerster, the CDMR’s board decided not to solicit donations until the ruling is made. However, the CDMR board of directors is committed to creating or joining a recognized tax-exempt non-profit that can receive deductible donations to support online mycological resources such as the Mushroom Observer. Exactly what form this will take and how soon it will happen is still up in the air. In the mean time Mushroom Observer is being supported directly by Nathan now in large part through personal gifts. The gifts received so far will cover the current expenses over the next year. However, the site has continued to grow and is once again needing a substantial performance boost. The current estimate is that this will more than triple the current costs for hosting the site to roughly $200/month. This means if you would like better performance for Mushroom Observer, please donate soon. All such gifts will be used to cover costs directly associated with running the Mushroom Observer and will continue to be recognized on the Mushroom Observer donors page.
