Observation 1161: Leratiomyces percevalii (Berk. & Broome) Bridge & Spooner

When: 2006-11-22

Collection location: Menlo Park, California, USA [Click for map]

Who: Douglas Smith (douglas)

No specimen available

Ok, I think this is a psathyrella, but not sure. Might be stropharia. But it is a fairly good size attractive mushroom. And I find non-cespitose groupings of these of 20-30 mushrooms at a time in the ground. But usually near woody debris.

Nice dark purple-brown spore print.

After discussion with people at the Santa Cruz Fungus Fed. fair setup (Jan 13-14, 2007), I now have these as Stropharia riparia.

I’m sure they’re a Stropharia and I would field id them as S. riparia.
